5 WAYS TO REFRESH YOUR SPRING WARDROBE

Spring is finally upon us so today I thought I’d share my top 5 ways to refresh your Spring wardrobe! I feel like when the season changes it’s easy to go a bit crazy and think it’s necessary to invest in a whole new wardrobe when in actual fact all you need to do is invest in a few key pieces, so here are my top tips on how to do just that…

1. INVEST IN A LIGHT COLOURED COAT

If you stay in the UK or somewhere with a cooler climate then you’ll know my dilemma here. The magazines might be telling you it’s Spring but does it actually feel like Spring?! My quick fix is to pick up a light coloured coat – something neutral that will fit nicely into your wardrobe and you can wear with pretty much everything. This Missguided cream wool coat (reduced to £26 at the moment!!) has been my go to lately. It’s warm enough that I won’t freeze to death in the streets of Glasgow but the crisp cream shade makes it that little bit more Spring appropriate!

2. INCORPORATE A POP OF COLOUR

Probably one of the easiest and most effective ways to spruce up your Spring wardrobe is to incorporate some colour. Bright reds and burnt oranges are everywhere at the moment and the easiest way to style these shades in my opinion is to introduce it by way of shoes or accessories. These *Next red suede ankle boots are probably my favourite footwear item at the moment. I love them SO much! Not only are they the most gorgeous shade of bright orange/red but the suede leather is unbelievably soft and comfy making them mould to my feet – the block heel also makes them easy for walking around which is a bonus!!

3. GET SOME LIGHT WASH JEANS

I’m usually a black or dark indigo jeans gal but since picking up these Gap girlfriend jeans in a lighter wash I think I’m converted! I’ve been loving how comfy the girlfriend fit is too. They’re slightly more fitted than boyfriend jeans but not as restricting as skinnies. The lighter wash is also perfect for injecting some life into your Spring wardrobe and perfect if you aren’t really into white jeans.

4. TREAT YOURSELF TO A NEW BAG

Let’s be honest I’m all for treating yourself pretty much 12 months of the year but if unlike me you’re slightly more frugal, then now is a good time to spruce up your accessories. I adore this M&S ring bag (which is unfortunately sold out, sorry!) but I’ve this Mango metallic handle tote is a good alternative! I love a big bag that you can just throw stuff in and go, but I’ve also been loving more dainty cross body bags lately and like I mentioned above, accessories are a great way to incorporate a pop of colour so why not get a bright red or orange?! The embroidery trend also doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and there’s some gorgeous offerings on the high street that won’t break the bank. Topshop, Primark, Next and M&S have some gorgeous ones at the moment!

5. RESTYLE SOME OF YOUR OLD BASICS

Refreshing your Spring wardrobe doesn’t need to be about going out and splurging a tonne of money on a whole new collection of Spring appropriate clothing. I’m all for investing in some key pieces that you can mix and match to create a capsule wardrobe that will see you throughout the whole of the season. Here I’m wearing an old plain white shirt – a basic that pretty much looks good with EVERYTHING. Have a good dig through your wardrobe and I bet you’ll be surprised at some of the basics you can restyle! If you do need to invest in a new shirt this Topshop Oversized mensy white shirt is a good investment!

Loving all your tips Chantelle. I’ve been gradually trying to add in some new editions to my Spring wardrobe but not had a chance to wear anything yet as it’s still so cold. xx

I definitely think a coat can make a huge difference to an outfit. A coloured one is even better!

I’m such a neutrals gal so I love greys, whites and blacks haha! I’d love a nice blush pink one though!
