4 TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR THE FLATFORM TRAINER THIS SPRING

This post is in collaboration with Kurt Geiger.

If you know me then you’ll know that I love comfort. Sure a stiletto looks pretty and all, but for someone who’s constantly running around it just isn’t practical for everyday. When trainers made a comeback you’d think I’d have been jumping for joy but it took me a while to embrace it. Fast forward to 2017 and I am LOVING that trainers are back. Especially the pretty kind…enter my new favourites the flatform.

How pretty are these Kurt Geiger flatforms?! They’re basically me in trainer form! Chunky sole – check. Soft, comfortable leather – check. Pink statement bow – double check! I’ve been having a bit of a moment with pink lately in case you haven’t noticed so this little pink accent is right up my street and oh my are these comfy! You know when you see a pair of shoes and think “those are going to kill my feet…” but then they turn out to be SO comfy! Yip, that’s these! Hands down my favourite shoes at the moment and you guys seem to be going crazy for them over on instagram (here). Shameless plug, soz. Don’t you just love how pretty and girly they look though but kinda tough at the same time with the chunky sole?

Yes…you can probably tell I’m obsessed! So I thought today I’d share my top tips on how to wear the flatform trainer this Spring…

1. STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

If you’ve been thinking about trying out the flatform trainer, DO IT. I promise you will not regret it! I think some people who aren’t used to heels think that they won’t be able to walk in them but trust me, you will. The sole doesn’t bend so it takes a little bit of getting used to at first but honestly, these ones are like walking on clouds. The leather is so soft and comfy. Also if you do like a bit of height without compromising on comfort this is the perfect solution!

2. EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT STYLES

Here’ I’ve gone for quite a casual look but I absolutely love teaming my flatforms with smarter outfits. I love the whole ‘casual chic’ look of wearing more tailored pieces with trainers and the thing I love about flatforms is they immediately up the style points on any outfit!

3. IF IN DOUBT GO MINIMAL

For some, the flatform might seem like a bold choice so if in doubt about how to style them opt for something minimal. Clean lines, neutral shades and you’re good to go. Here I’ve teamed mines with some light wash jeans – I just love lighter coloured jeans for Spring and I think the accents of pink from the jacket and bag really add to the look. However I feel like these would look equally as great with an all white outfit – think wide legged trousers and an oversized crisp white shirt for a minimal chic look – I don’t know about you but I’m feeling inspired for my next outfit!

4. TRY THEM WITH WORKWEAR

Of course this really depends on the rules of your workplace but if you’re looking to up your style game for work, bag yourself some all black or white flatforms and see how they immediately transform your workwear wardrobe. You’ll really be surprised at how versatile they are!

And that’s my top 4 tips on how to wear the flatform trainer this Spring. Please remember this is just how I’ll be wearing my flatforms this Spring but there’s really no right or wrong way! It’s all about experimentation and wearing what you feel comfortable in! You do you!
