HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING POWDER

There’s a new beauty love in my life and you guessed it…it’s the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. When I first heard about these miracle powders, I knew that I needed to pick one up. This right here is a whooooole new brand of powder.

I am always on the lookout for a good powder to set my makeup, but like many of us I hate that overly powdery, sometimes cakey look that a lot of powders can give. The Ambient Lighting Powder is a finishing powder that not only helps set and keep foundation in place, but also creates a ‘lighting effect’ without any cakiness whatsoever. Here’s what I mean…you know when you want to get rid of that ‘shine’ but still have a bit of an inner glow? Voila! That’s what the Ambient Lighting Powder does. Whenever I put this on, I see such a dramatic difference to my skin, everything looks so much…softer…and smoother. It’s really difficult to imagine that a little powder can do such a thing but it really is like magic! There are 6 shades in total and I must admit I found it quite difficult to choose which shade I would be whilst swatching my life away in Space NK, only because I felt like I could easily wear a few, if not all of the shades. The one I settled for is diffused light as my skin suits more yellow tones. Here are the shades on offer:
  • Ethereal – Cool Translucent
  • Diffused – Warm Pale Yellow
  • Dim – Natural Beige
  • Mood -Sheer Lavender Pink
  • Luminous – Champagne Pearl
  • Radiant – Golden Beige.

Diffused Light doesn’t add any colour to my face but just gives me that gorgeous glow without any sort of sparkle. From swatching in-store  I believe the two that would maybe give a little bit of colour would be Dim Light and Radiant Light.

What Hourglass say: “Each powder captures, diffuses and softens surrounding light with groundbreaking photoluminescent technology”…without getting too much into the more technical side of things, this little compact has become an absolute life saver for me, especially in these tropical weather conditions the UK has been experiencing lately, and it photographs bloomin beautifully!

Another thing I am extremely impressed with is it’s power to control oil. I tried and tested this out at a wedding I attended at the weekend (outfit post here) and with only a couple of touch ups it kept my skin and makeup looking flawless for the whole day – despite the 22 degree heat and the fact that I was dancing the whole night!

As you can probably tell, this product is an all round winner in my books, and I’m already thinking about which shades I want to try out next (the word on the street is that Hourglass are going to release a palette with a few of these shades come Autumn but I don’t know if I can wait that long!)

Have you tried the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders? What do you think of them?

That’s the only thing :s I personally do think it’s worth it but it’s a lot to spend if it turns out that you don’t like it! You should go into Space NK and pop some on, walk around wearing it for the whole day and see what you think! I think you might just fall in love with it though… 🙂 hehe Let me know how you get on! xx

I adore the packaging and it sounds fabulous, but I just don’t think I can fork out that much for a powder… but you are tempting me 🙂
