September has finally arrived and that can only mean one thing – Autumn is almost upon us! And the only thing more exciting than the season itself?! The fact that it’s almost Autumn wedding season!! To celebrate my love of all things Autumn (and wedding inspired – who doesn’t love a wedding?!) I thought I’d share with you my top Five Tips for All Day Wedding Makeup! Also, I promise this is the last time I’ll say the word Autumn…

1. SKINCARE PREP
For me, a good pre-makeup skincare routine is probably the most important step. If my skin isn’t looking and feeling great then it doesn’t matter how good my makeup application is to begin with as it’s unlikely that it’ll make it past the ceremony!
Luckily for me I have a few miracle products up my sleeve!
- Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser* – This cleanser is perfect for balancing combination skin and it’s also very good for those who suffer from breakouts. The active ingredients of lime blossom help to balance and repair the skin and it smells incredible. Whenever I apply this, I feel like my skin is getting a real treat so it’s perfect for some pre wedding pampering.
- Sarah Chapman Skinesis Rapid Radiance Cleanse* – My next step involves the Skinesis Radiance Cleanse which can be used as a 2 minute mask to brighten and refine pores. I LOVE this step! I apply a thin layer and leave it on whilst I’m brushing my teeth, and when I remove it with a hot cloth my skin looks immediately plumped, bright and glowing.
- Elemis Balancing Lavender Toner* – For toner, I love this one by Elemis. Again, just like the lime blossom cleanser it is very balancing and leaves my skin feeling super fresh and clear.
- Simple Moisturiser with SPF 30 – a good moisturiser and SPF is essential and this one by Simple has been my favourite for a while. Whilst it has a creamy texture, it absorbs so quickly and leaves my skin feeling plumped, hydrated and of course I know it’ll be protected from the elements (even Scotland get’s the occasional bit of sunshine y’know!) Another good tip is, if you want to skip on a makeup primer but add some extra glow at the same time, add in a tiny drop of the Iconic London Illuminator in with moisturiser!
2. FOCUS ON BASE/SKIN
Now this is personal preference but for all day weddings I prefer to focus on beautiful glowy skin and something that will look great throughout the day to evening. Let’s be real, we’re all guilty of being a bit heavy handed with the under eye concealer and highlighting on a night out (gimme alllll the glow). However, what looks great in the evening doesn’t always translate in daylight and think of all those wedding photographs! Instead, I tend to opt for something with a good medium coverage, that’s long lasting, and not too flat looking on the skin. Enter Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme. Another favourite is Too Faced Born This Way foundation (for a slightly lighter feel). Of course I’m all about the lit from within look so I’m never without a glowy primer, and my favourite at the minute is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. It really is amazing and gives the most gorgeous natural glowy look to the skin.
3. KEEP EYES SIMPLE
If you’re anything like me then there’s a good chance you might not make it past the wedding ceremony without shedding a tear or two, which also means that smokey eye you spent half an hour blending out is half way down your face. To save any smokey eye drama (and not the good kind) opt for something neutral and easily maintainable. A couple of favourites include Mac All That Glitters and Stila Kitten eyeshadow. For a cream shadow, Becca Poured Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone makes a gorgeous all over lid shade and doubles up as a natural illuminator on the high points of the face. I can’t go without some definition in the crease so I always opt for some bronzer or warm toned brown, then finish everything off with a simple cat eye flick and a double coat of mascara. I love the Clarins Supra Volume Mascara* for extra volume and fullness.
4. OPT FOR A SOFT LIP
OK, so I’m a nude gal at heart but since my main focus here is the skin anyway a nude lip make sense! My go to lip combos for weddings and special events are usually Mac Spice Lip Liner paired with Velvet Teddy or Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk Lipcheat followed with the matching lippie or another favourite, Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect lipstick.
5. SET SET SET
Second to making sure skin is prepped, I’d have to say another key to ensure makeup lasts all day on my skin is some good setting techniques. The first step is ensuring my under eye concealer lasts all day, as this is usually the first thing to fade on me! To ensure my under eyes look tip top from day to night I always bake concealer with some translucent powder – Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and RCMA No Colour Powder are my favourites. The final step for me is a good spritz of a setting spray which is ESSENTIAL to ensure makeup lasts all day on my skin. My favourite without doubt is Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. I’ve dabbled with many others in the past but this is the one I always go back to. Not only does it ensure my makeup doesn’t budge but it also takes away any powdery look to the skin and just makes the whole makeup look blend together seamlessly with a gorgeous semi-dewy finish (not greasy feeling in the slightest!)
Now all that’s left to do is to find the perfect outfit! Be sure to check out Simply Be Wedding Boutique if you’re looking for some inspiration, they have so many gorgeous wedding guest dresses…I’ve linked some of my favourites below. Chi Chi London dress…you will soon be mine!!!
