Happy Sunday everyone! Today I thought I’d share my thoughts on the new Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I must admit I have been dying to get my hands on this foundation ever since it was announced it was being released, so I did squeal a bit inside when I finally managed to get it…aah it’s the small things in life eh? I thought I’d do a blog post for those of you who prefer to see the facts in writing and have also uploaded a video in case you’d like to hear more of my thoughts on it. In the video (below) I also show you me applying it and since I’m wearing this foundation in the video, you’ll be able to see how it actually looks on the skin.

This foundation has been on the shelves for a couple of weeks now and comes in 20 shades. The shade names are identical to Nars Sheer Glow however, I do believe that some of the shades don’t quite match to sheer glow. I did swatch the shades Santa Fe and Punjab alongside each other and these were absolutely identical but I don’ think this is the case for all of the shades from what I’ve heard. If you’re looking to try this I’d say it’s probably best swatching instore (if you can) rather than picking up your usual shade online.

What Nars say:
“Full, natural-looking coverage with unexpectedly weightless, 16 hour wear.”

One pump is said to be enough to cover the whole face, and the texture is said to be as light as air despite giving a full coverage, and still leaves your skin still looking like skin.

I’ve been putting this foundation to the test over the past week and I must admit I’ve definitely fallen in love with it. Nars just know how to bring it with their foundations!

Firstly, this foundation applies like silk it’s extremely light and airy (think YSL Fusion Ink and Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation). One pump, applied with fingers is enough to cover my full face but as a personal preference I like to apply two pumps and buff into the skin with a buffing brush for an even, flawless coverage. Nars weren’t wrong when they said that it feels light as air. I really do think it would be difficult to go overboard with this foundation as it just melts into the skin and looks so flawless but yet my skin doesn’t look or feel caked up in the slightest. On first application, however, I do feel like the foundation looks extremely matte but once it sets and my natural oils come through it looks more like a satin finish and reminds me a lot of Giorgio Armani Luminous silk. Bearing this in mind, despite Nars saying that this is suited to all skin types, I don’t think you dry skinned gals will get along with this. Quick tip though! I heard from a Nars Makeup artist that if you do have dry skin, if you mix a pump with the tiniest drop of face oil it will totally work for you, so it’s worth a go if you can pick up a sample!

I’m not sure about the 16-hour wear thing but if I apply this foundation at 8am, you can bet your bottom dollar that it’ll still be there at 7pm…ok, not perfect but still looking pretty decent, considering. I also find that this foundation controls my oil SO well. I can’t emphasise this point enough. When wearing this I don’t even feel like I need to set it (but sometimes do out of habit with the tiniest amount of powder). It wears so beautifully throughout the day, in fact it’s one of those foundations that actually looks better as the day goes on! I’m not worrying that I look like a shiny hot mess if I don’t have a chance to check a mirror as I can kinda get away with that ‘natural glowy’ look with this foundation.

If you couldn’t already tell, ladies and gents, I am utterly obsessed with this foundation and can see it being a new makeup bag staple for the foreseeable future! Oily skinned gals, if you like a semi matte, semi satin/glowy finish I think you’re going to LOVE this boy. However, if you’re skin is a tad dry, this is maybe one to miss.
